You can book nonstop flights between Newark and Puerto Rico on JetBlue or United Airlines. The prices start at $73 or 4.8K Chase points each way. You can book these flights on Orbitz, Expedia, Priceline, or directly from the airline. There is limited availability, so it’s recommended to search for one seat at a time and then increase the number of seats as needed to take advantage of the sale. Not all fares are available on all airlines or dates.

If you use a card like Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Preferred, or Sapphire Reserve, you can earn 2-3 Chase points per dollar spent and enjoy benefits such as free trip cancellation/interruption insurance, travel accident insurance, luggage insurance, trip and luggage delay protection, and more. Some fares may be basic economy, but having an airline credit card can waive certain restrictions. For example, with the Chase United Explorer card or Chase United Business Card, you can bring a free carry-on, a free checked bag, and have priority boarding. The Chase United Quest or United Club Infinite Card offers 2 free checked bags.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) requires airlines to provide seat assignments for children 13 and under next to their parents without charge, even on basic economy tickets.

Please note that US citizens do not need a passport for travel to Puerto Rico, and children under 18 do not need any ID. Kosher food is available.
